Verena Witz is an active PhD researcher working on EPICONN and language processing with fMRI and TMS. She carries out much of the group’s EPICONN research, connecting chronometric stimulation with the investigation of brain-network dynamics.
EPICONN and chronometric TMS-fMRI
Verena plays a central role in the group’s day-to-day EPICONN work. Alongside this, her doctoral research investigates spoken and signed language using precisely timed brain stimulation and functional imaging.
Austrian Sign Language and German
Her 2026 DOC fellowship supports the project Mapping Neural Mechanisms of Language Processing in Austrian Sign Language (ÖGS) and German through fMRI and TMS. The project investigates how language networks support these two modalities.
